The Pig Meets the Hog
By Kay Harwell Fernandez
No, this isn’t some barnyard tale. Rather, it’s the story of Daytona Pig Stand, a smokin’ barbecue restaurant that sits at a prime location near Daytona Beach.
At the crossroads of I-95 and U.S. 1, the 150-acre multiuse complex is anchored by the world’s largest Harley-Davidson dealership.
The Harley-Davidson is said to be the embodiment of America on two wheels, and often its riders belong to the Harley Owners Group (hence “HOG”).
Aptly enough, the Pig Stand sports a Daytona Beach biker logo theme and log cabin feel. The wood-fired kitchen doles out platters of barbecued chicken; slow-cooked, Texas-style brisket; baby-back ribs; catfish fillets; wings; and Angus burgers.
Look for hearty accompaniments such as Diane’s greens (based on a recipe by owner Eric Holm’s wife) and roasted corn on the cob. The 80-seat, fast-casual venue also serves beer and wine from galvanized metal ice buckets.
Located at 1663 N. U.S. Highway 1, Ormond Beach, the Daytona Pig Stand's phone is 386-898-0360.
